Hi, I'm Jess. More than any title, I'm a woman who has had to rebuild more than once, and who loves helping other women build bodies and lives that can carry them through whatever comes next.

I grew up a gymnast. Moving my body has always been how I make sense of the world, and on the hard days it's still where I go first.
That love of movement became more than 25 years of personal training, group fitness, nutrition and coaching. I became a national fitness presenter, a certified coach, and eventually the owner of a transformational women's wellness and fitness studio, where I got to watch women discover what their bodies could do.
But strength wasn't always simple for me. As a teenager I struggled with an eating disorder. Years later I had to rebuild my health through hormone imbalance and chronic stress, and learn to advocate for my body when my symptoms were dismissed. I know what it's like to feel at war with your own body. I also know it doesn't have to stay that way.

Our son Steven was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and we lost him when he was an infant. There is no workout, no plan and no mindset that prepares you for that.
It wasn't the only loss. We walked through pregnancy losses. I navigated postpartum depression. My husband deployed overseas. Later, I lost my father. And through all of it, I was raising three children and trying to build a business.
"People ask how I found the strength to keep going. The truth is, I wasn't always strong. I just kept moving."
Some days that movement was training for a marathon. Some days it was a walk around the block with tears streaming down my face. Some days it was simply putting one foot in front of the other. Movement didn't take my grief away, but it softened the edges and gave me enough hope to get through another day. My faith, my family and my community carried me the rest of the way.
Pain didn't get the last word. Together with an incredible community, I've helped raise more than $2 million for Cure SMA. I wrote Triumph through the Tears for anyone walking through loss. I took my story to the TEDx stage, reinvented my business, and I'm still challenging myself in my 50s, handstands included.
Those years are why I created the R.E.A.L. Wellness Framework: I needed something realistic enough to work on my hardest days, not just my best ones.
Most of the women I work with are 40 and beyond. They're smart, busy and experienced, and many have spent years taking care of everyone else. They don't need another extreme plan. They need one designed around their body and their life now. That's what the R.E.A.L. Wellness Framework is for, and it's at the heart of everything I do. I coach in person around the Raleigh area of North Carolina, and virtually with women everywhere.
Four simple questions sit behind everything I teach:
Can you keep doing this in your real life? If a plan only works during a perfect week, it isn't a very good plan.
Health is having the energy to travel, work, play with your kids or grandkids and enjoy your Saturday.
You don't have to wait until you feel motivated. Take one small step that moves you forward today.
Take care of your body because you plan to live in it for a long time. Respect, not punishment.
"Not only have I maintained my strength, but I have significantly increased my flexibility and core strength. I'm continually amazed by the progress I've made by exercises I never thought I would enjoy, such as inchworms and carrying 20 pound weights."
